Wendy Morrell, from Dorset, had just sat down to watch the French Open tennis final when Storm the Russian Steppe eagle entered through an open window.

After a bit of commotion, the majestic eagle perched on Wendy’s cabinet and started pecking at potpourri. Jon Ball, of Wessex Bird and Prey Rescue, managed to coax the bird down after a 30 minute stand-off.

Storm was soon reunited with its owner James Moore, who had been training the bird to fend off seagulls at a local landfill.

No one was hurt in the incident, although Storm’s four-foot wingspan did cause a bit of ornamental damage.
