Puns fly after bird is rescued from chimney

A TRAPPED bird did not ruffle the feathers of Worthing firefighters.

In fact, they used the opportunity to have a bit of fun and come up with every pun and bird reference they could think of.

The call came in around 7pm last night, when a magpie, dubbed Martin, dropped down the chimney of a house in Cheviot Road, Durrington.

Posting on the Worthing Fire Station Facebook page this morning, the crew said: “We were going to Tweet this but decided that putting Tit here would be more of a Hoot.

“Last night at around 7pm, Martin the Magpie got his feathers in a ruffle when he dropped Down a chimney of a house in Cheviot Road.

“Fowl play was not suspected but we did suspect Martin had been playing Chicken. Or he was a Raven lunatic.
