The reed beds at RSPB Saltholme provide the perfect overnight roost for starlings to form the huge flocks - or murmurations

Birdwatchers are being invited to experience the “living cloud” as flocks of starlings form across Teesside.

RSPB Saltholme , near Stockton, has organised a number of ‘Soup and Starlings’ evenings to take place at the nature reserve for visitors to witness the wildlife show.

Lydia Tague, visitor experience officer at RSPB Saltholme said: “You might have seen the spectacular starling murmurations on wildlife programmes on TV, but nothing beats seeing them in person. Wrapping up and going to see a starling murmuration is well worth the effort.
