The last
bird count in DTR was conducted in 2013
BAREILLY:
After almost six years, the birds at Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR) will be counted
from January 18 to 20 for recording various species of birds present in the
reserve. From resident to winter migratory birds, DTR claims of hosting nearly
450 species of birds. The forest department will take help of Rohilkhand Nature
Club, Katarnia Ghat Foundation and 16 other experts from different parts of the
country for the counting of the birds. According to sources, the last bird
count here was last conducted in 2013. However, the census of tigers, leopard
and rhinos are regularly conducted here.

Pandey, field director, DTR, said, “Dudhwa draws scores of tourists who are
interested in spotting a tiger but the forest is also perfect spot for bird
watching. Troupes from European countries visit India for bird watching and
Dudhwa can be a good destination for such tourists.” Recommended By Colombia
According to officials, the exercise of bird count is aimed at recording the
presence of exact species of birds present here or if any rare bird has made
Dudhwa its home.
