Andrew Mothershead, an agent with Scott County Conservation, shared on Fb that the Missouri Section of Conservation was inundated with calls on Monday about the birds. 

Mothershead and Kevin Brunke, a Natural History Biologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation, responded to Wakefield Street, west of Sikeston, to look into the birds.

There, the pair observed carcasses of 4 bird varieties: crimson-winged blackbirds, brown-headed cowbirds, grackles and European starlings. 

‘We also noticed numerous birds demonstrating signals of actual physical injury in locations of vegetated address near the roadway,’ Mothershead stated in the release, incorporating that much more dead birds ended up uncovered in a variety of neighborhoods in the space.
