As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

Agressive bird has moved into Auckland

An aggressive bird species has made its way to Auckland, and authorities want it gone.

The red-vented bulbul is thought to have made its way to our shores on a ship or a yacht.

It's known to attack crops and displace native species.

The bird has been spotted in three parts of the city - Manurewa, Henderson and the North Shore.

Anyone who spots a medium-sized bird with bright red feathers beneath the tail is asked to contact MPI Biosecurity.
