As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

Vulture decline 'could affect humans'

12 September 2013 Last updated at 00:02 BST

Africa's vulture population is in danger from illegal elephant and rhino poachers, a South African conservation group is warning.

VulPro - one of five projects being highlighted by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as patrons of Tusk Conservation Awards - says poachers poison the carcasses to prevent the vultures alerting wardens to the presence of a kill, with a single incident leading to the potential deaths of hundreds of vultures.

Chief executive Kerri Wolter explains the impact a decline in vulture numbers could have on humans.
