As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

Rare bird spotted in Havering by readers

PUBLISHED: 10:00 09 March 2018

Residents spotted a rare bird in their gardens due to the Beast from the East and hundreds of them spent the week at Rainham Marshes Nature Reserve.

The fieldfare is a migrant bird that comes to the UK every winter to escape the extreme cold in Eastern Europe.

Wildlife photographer Peter Clayton took a picture one in his garden in Harold Wood while Recorder reader Dave Tremlett took a photo of one in his garden in Rainham
