As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

Feeding birds shouldn’t be crime

Since when is it a crime to feed the wildlife (Jan. 1 news story, “Bird lover to fight nuisance threat”)?

I would much rather see bird feeders in a neighbor’s yard than cars up on blocks, streets full of cars, campers covered in tarps, a storm door propped against a tree for three months (hoping someone will take it), front porches full of living room furniture as well as junk, constant barking dogs or pit bulls on chains.

I would suggest that she might move the bird feeders to the backyard to not disturb curbside view, but to chastise the woman with a nuisance charge is very unfair
