As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

Rajkot kite fest may prove killer for migratory birds

RAJKOT: If some rare and vulnerable migratory birds fall prey to kite strings in Rajkot, the blame will lie with Gujarat government's tourism department.

Much to the annoyance of bird-lovers and conservationists, the tourism department is holding the International Kite Festival at Ishwariya lake, one of the finest wetlands in the state and home to thousands of migratory birds. The Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd (TCBL) and Rajkot district collectorate are organizing the kite festival on January 9, wherein renowned kitists from India as well as the world will participate .
