As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

Shortage of water hits flock

Nellore: Stage is set for the unique and only one of its kinds in the country, Flamingo festival at Sullurpeta from Friday. The festival is being organised every year from last one decade to mark the arrival of migratory birds to their winter sojourn from all parts of the country and also from Siberia.

However, the turnout of migratory birds is not to the extent of what it was in the past at Pulicat Lake and it is being attributed to shortage of water in the Lake as a result of the failure of northeast monsoon last year.

However, the Nelapattu bird sanctuary is full to its brim with birds because of the availability of the water in the tank located in the midst of the sanctuary.
