As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

Parrot on the loose in Egerton

5:01pm Wednesday 30th April 2014 in News

A parrot has been spotted in a garden in Egerton.

The bird was seen by Yvonne Sutcliffe in the back garden of her house in Water Street.

She said: “I am used to seeing lots of birds coming to eat from the feeder in my garden, but I have never seen a parrot before, it flew off after I spotted it.”

She described the bird as having a deep red coloured upper body and a turquoise blue lower section.

She added: “I think it is a shame if someone has lost it.”

If anyone has any information about a missing bird please contact The Bolton News on 01204 537243.
