Exeter shopper attacked by gull while enjoying a wrap calls for 'eradication' of the birds

An Exeter shopper who was attacked by a seagull after buying lunch from a food stall is calling on the RSPB to eradicate the birds and discourage their return.

John Morey, who describes himself as a bird lover, bought a Greek wrap from one of the stalls in Exeter Guildhall Shopping Centre, and had sat down in the new amphitheatre seats to eat it when a seagull suddenly swooped in from behind him and caught him unaware.

"It fleetingly landed on my shoulder and pecked at my food which was right up by my face," recalled John, of Teignmouth. "I obviously jumped up startled, but the seagull didn't fly off.
