As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

Exeter shopper attacked by gull while enjoying a wrap calls for 'eradication' of the birds

Posted: July 03, 2017

An Exeter shopper who was attacked by a seagull after buying lunch from a food stall is calling on the RSPB to eradicate the birds and discourage their return.

John Morey, who describes himself as a bird lover, bought a Greek wrap from one of the stalls in Exeter Guildhall Shopping Centre, and had sat down in the new amphitheatre seats to eat it when a seagull suddenly swooped in from behind him and caught him unaware.

"It fleetingly landed on my shoulder and pecked at my food which was right up by my face," recalled John, of Teignmouth. "I obviously jumped up startled, but the seagull didn't fly off.
