As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

An emu has gone on the loose in Sheffield, with shocked commuters spotting the giant bird as they made their way to work.

The lost bird - nicknamed Eddie - was seen wandering in and out of residents' driveways in Beighton, Sheffield, around 8.30am yesterday morning.

Police called to the scene rang local farms and animal attractions in a bid to trace the owner - and took to Twitter to ask for help.

Mum-of-four Tilly Newton, 44, told the Sheffield Star: “I looked outside this morning and saw the emu in my neighbour’s garden and him filming it.
