As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

Wildlife rescuer plucks seabird in distress from Midtown

Daily News Staff Writer

Wildlife rescuer Kenny Brown carried an ailing bird up Midtown Beach on Friday morning.

At his truck, Brown sprayed the young Northern Gannet, a seabird, with Scalex, a solution that will kill the feather mites the bird attracted while sitting on the beach struggling with breathing problems.

Police called Brown, who owns Wildlife Rescue and Trapping, at about 8:30 a.m. Friday to help them capture the bird after a beachgoer reported it.
