As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

Stickers to help fund great blue heron survey

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — The Heron Observation Network of Maine says the sale of conservation stickers is going to help pay for a statewide aerial survey of nesting great blue herons.
The network is partnering with Burly Bird, a Maine-based conservation sticker company, to make available for purchase UV-coated vinyl stickers featuring a great blue heron that can be placed on cars, windows, water bottles, coffee mugs, laptops and anywhere else.
The Heron Observation Network of Maine is a volunteer adopt-a-colony program started by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife in 2009.
Proceeds from the sticker will go toward funding the next aerial survey scheduled for 2015, which will help find new heron colonies in the state.
