As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

Specifically the Canada Geese that are leaving droppings along the lakeshore and sidewalks near the Robert H Long Nature Park. Residents are ready to take action and their plans are leading to a bird battle in the community.

"Everyplace you look there's geese," said Milton Erlich, whose condos backs up against the nature park. He says the geese must go.

There is no doubt that the droppings are unwanted, but some activists have been raising awareness calling the potential goose round up inhumane.

Neighbors like Beatrice Leslie welcome the feathery friends and don't see the problem. "No I don't really, I read that letter they sent out and it was really heart wrenching," she said. "People want the geese transferred to other places, and you know I feel as though it's not time to do that, because they are living here with their babies."
