As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

Pet lovers are known for teaching their domesticated animals novel but ultimately pointless tricks.

This girl is slightly different however and has managed to train her chicken to complete an assault course - and even jump through a hoop.

The footage from New Hampshire, USA features a young girl putting her feathered friend through its paces, with remarkable results.

Using her hand to coax the bird with food, the young girl leads the chicken named Stripe along a small but challenging agility course.

It begins by climbing up a sloped plank before trotting along a wooden box and then proceeding down a piece of wood on the other side.

Upon completion the young girl hands it some food and leads it towards the second part of the course - cones for it to go around.

Without breaking its concentration the chicken walks around the posts with ease, ensuring it stays close to the girl's outstretched hand.
