As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

Is it is a bird, is it a plane? Well, yes, it is a bird: a huge ostrich chasing after a group of cyclists in South Africa.

Headcam footage taken by Oleksiy Mishchenko on Saturday shows the bizarre moment the ostrich appears out of nowhere and follows his training group along a road.

Some may find such an experience terrifying but Mr Mishchenko clearly thinks otherwise, laughing heartily off-camera as the bird runs after his friends.

He said: "The road through the national park is quite and a little deserted. Suddenly I heard a noise on my left and saw a big ostrich in the bush.
