San Diego Audubon is restoring habitat on FAA Island
in Mission Bay to promote nesting by the California
Least Tern (an endangered bird). We’ll be repairing chick fencing, baling-up
plant piles, and more. This is a great opportunity to get out to an island that
is otherwise off-limits to the public! (The lifeguards will be ferrying us out
there.)
The event is on March 16, 2013 from 9:30 am-12:30 pm. Meet
at the public boat ramp at De Anza Cove in Mission Bay .
Please arrive at 9:15 so you don’t miss the boat!
Volunteers should wear long pants and sturdy shoes, and
sun/rain protection as weather indicates. Work gloves will be provided, but
volunteers are encouraged to bring their own pair if available. We’ll have
water, but don't forget to bring a reusable water bottle for refills!
