As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

Which bird should Canada take under its wing?

Saturday, January 17, 2015, 6:37 PM - There are more than 450 species of birds across Canada, but not one of them has been designated as our national bird — a title that for too long has not been made official. That, however, is about to change thanks to Canadian Geographic’s National Bird Project.

Canadian Geographic hopes to designate an official bird for Canada by 2017, the country's sesquicentennial. They're calling on the public to help make that happen through a voting system on their website
